The Trauma and Social Justice Conference is an annual event sponsored by the Trauma Response Institute at 性视界传媒. It’s designed to promote and support the work of humanitarian aid, mental health, education, ministerial, and health care professionals dedicated to naming and responding to socio-cultural factors that increase stress and trauma among marginalized and vulnerable populations.

Our gathering is a time to share research, programs, successes and struggles for mutual support and furthering of our work toward building more safe, equitable and resilient communities.

The Immigrant Crisis and Its Impact on Local Communities

All the Stars Denied, a reading from Pure Belpré award-winning author Guadalupe Garcia McCall from her new, poignant novel. All The Stars Denied tackles the hidden history of the United States and its first mass deportation event that swept up hundreds of thousands of Mexican-American citizens during the Great Depression.

State of Affairs: Explored the widespread impact on various immigrant and other vulnerable communities in the Pacific Northwest since the election of the Trump administration.

Religion and Bias Against the Vulnerable: Dr. Randy Woodley, renowned Native American author and theologian, unpacked the role of white privilege and its influence on Western religious thought and practice.

Direct Service Providers shared about their work, including gains, constraints, and the work yet to be done.

The day concluded with a relaxation and grounding exercise led by Tracy Sandor, LPC and Trauma-Informed specialist.
